Bespoke intimate tastings are offered by appointment at the historic farmhouse that is now the APOGEE Cellar Door.

    Jim Chatto is recognised nationally as one of the industry’s best winemakers. He was named 2019 Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller WINE. His Tasmanian project started more than 20 years ago when he and his wife Daisy bought a vineyard in the Huon Valley. As well as making wine for his own label, he is also Group Chief Winemaker for McWilliam’s Wines Group, overseeing the entire group’s winemaking efforts. Jim also consults to several reputable Tasmanian wine brands.

  • Derwent Estate

    Derwent Estate is a family-owned operation, employing three generations from the Hanigan family. The site has farming roots dating back to 1913. Vines were planted in 1992 and have produced consistently exceptional and award-winning wines. Situated 20 mins north of Hobart, the cellar door is quaint and understated – nothing like the impressive grandeur of wines on offer.

    Peter Dredge is the owner and winemaker of Dr-Edge, an eccentric wine brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but makes seriously good wine. With 20+ years’ experience spanning South Australia, Germany and the US, Peter was most recently a finalist in the 2020 Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine Winemaker of the Year Awards.

  • Freycinet Vineyard

    Freycinet Vineyard is one of Tasmania’s iconic wine brands and was established in 1979. It is owned and managed by second generation owners Lindy Bull and life partner Claudio Radenti, also the winemaker. The vineyard is situated on the East Coast of Tasmania, a short distance from Freycinet National Park, home to Wineglass Bay, and is renowned for producing some of Tasmania’s best Sparkling, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay.

    Glaetzer-Dixon

    Nick Glaetzer, (from the Glaetzer wine family in the Barossa Valley), and his wife Sally (nee Dixon), moved to Tasmania in 2005 to follow an obsession with cool climate Pinot Noir and Shiraz. Nick is a renowned winemaker; his 2010 Mon Père Shiraz was the first Tasmanian wine to win Australia’s most coveted wine award, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, and in 2019, Nick was named a Future 50 winemaker at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).

  • Marion's Vineyard

  • Meadowbank

    Meadowbank is regarded as a Tasmanian pioneer. Vines were first planted in 1976 on Gerald Ellis’s sheep farm which seemed unconventional at the time. Defiance ensued and today Gerald’s daughter Mardi Ellis and her family, together with winemaker Peter Dredge and his family, have joined forces to write the next chapter of Meadowbank wines.

    Brothers Matthew and Jonathan Hughes own, grow and produce Mewstone and hughes & hughes wines. Tassie born and bred, Jonny, (winemaker), has experience spanning New Zealand, Italy and Canada; also, from South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. Mewstone was named Halliday 2019 Best New Winery of the Year.

  • Milton Cellar Door

    Milton Vineyard

    Milton Vineyard is located 42° south on the East Coast of Tasmania, near Freycinet. Owned by the Dunbabin family for over 40 years, the site was originally farmed in 1826 for fine Tasmanian wool. The unique micro-climate, combined with a decades-long focus on sound viticultural practices, has resulted in a number of excellent cool climate wines and a strong fan base.

    Moorilla

    Since 2007, Conor van der Reest has been at the winemaking helm of Moorilla. Together with owner David Walsh (also owner of MONA, a world-famous eclectic art museum in Hobart) Conor makes wines that reveal the unique terroir of the Moorilla vineyards. Wine labels within the Moorilla collection include Cloth Label, Muse and Praxis.

  • Pipers Brook/Kreglinger

    Established in 1974, Pipers Brook vineyard is recognised by Tasmania’s wine industry as one its pioneering vineyards. Tasmanian owned and operated, Pipers Brook (and Ninth Island) are part of Kreglinger Wine Estates, a family-owned business steeped in history, spanning 200+ years.

  • Pooley Wines

    Based in the Coal River Valley, Pooley Wines was established in 1985 by the late Denis and Margaret Pooley who moved to Tasmania from England in 1952. Three generations of Pooleys have since worked in the family-run business. Viticulturalist Matthew Pooley, and his winemaker sister, Anna Pooley, are at the helm of this multi-award-winning business.

  • Quiet Mutiny

    Greer Carland is the owner and winemaker of Quiet Mutiny which is inspired by the story of a female convict who took her destiny in her own hands. Much like Carland did when she started her wine company in 2017. Carland has won several major awards and was a 2020 Young Gun of Wine finalist. She has produced wines for a plethora of brands as a senior contract winemaker for 14 years.

  • Stefano Lubiana

    Stefano Lubiana Wines

    Established in 1990, Stefano Lubiana Wines is a family-owned and operated winery and vineyard. Steve Lubiana, a 5th generation winemaker, and his wife Monique have established Stefano Lubiana Wines to be one of Tasmania’s most iconic and sought-after wine brands. Stefano Lubiana Wines is Tasmania’s first and only certified biodynamic vineyard.

  • TTT Wines

    Ricky Evans is the winemaker behind Two Tonne Tasmania (TTT), a small batch wine brand that started in 2013 with just two tonnes of grapes. His passion lies with smaller parcels that can produce complete and complex, quality wines. Ricky opened Havillah, a wine bar in downtown Launceston, which also serves as the TTT cellar door.

  • Utzinger

    Matthias and Lauren Utzinger started Utzinger Wines in 2016. A love story for the ages, Matthias, from Switzerland, met Lauren, from Tasmania, while travelling in Iran. A vigneron with a passion for cool climate wines, Matthias found his destiny with Lauren, and her home State. Utzinger Wines are crafted with maximum care and little intervention so the wine truly represents each season and the place in which the grapes were grown.

  • Wellington & Wolfe

    Wellington & Wolfe is dedicated to producing only top-quality Riesling in only the best years. Hugh McCullough, owner and winemaker of Wellington & Wolf, combined his love of cool climate Riesling with modern history to launch Wellington & Wolfe in 2017. Always with a history book open, Hugh named his brand Wellington & Wolfe after studying these historical generals. His reserve Riesling, “Eylandt” (Dutch for island), is the script for Abel Tasman’s 1642 journal when he first chartered Van Diemen’s Land.

  • Winstead

    Winstead is a tiny vineyard in in Bagdad, a small town just north of Hobart. Neil Snare, the winemaker, has perfected his Burgundian-style, estate-grown, Pinot Noir. Small parcels, grown on the same soil, show impressive contrast due to vine age, clonal and environmental differences. Winstead follows organic and bio-dynamic principles.

  • Westella

    Alongside the Tamar River is Westella, a small family-owned vineyard and cellar door. Owners Will and Jacquie Adkins grow just one grape variety—Pinot Noir. They are dedicated to producing high quality grapes and wine without negative impacts on the environment or their local community.

From vines established in 1982, Delamere is in Pipers River, about an hour north of Launceston. Owned by husband-and-wife duo Shane Holloway and Fran Austin, these two have more than 40+ years’ combined winemaking experience. Delamere is renowned for its top class Sparkling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Sinapius Wines is located in Pipers River and is uniquely planted at a high density ensuring low yields are produced per vine, which, combined with meticulous vineyard management, and low intervention winemaking, makes their wines very unique.

Holm Oak is situated approximately 45 minutes north of Launceston in the Tamar Valley and owned by Bec and Tim Duffy. With 18 years’ experience gained in Australia and the US, Bec, the winemaker, is well and truly ensconced in her winery domain. Tim, the viticulturist, is a third-generational grape grower and agronomist. Estate grown and sustainably made on site. Holm Oak offers a wide range of wine varieties to suit all preferences.

Estate grown, made and bottled, Moores Hill is home to Tasmania’s first 100% off-grid winery – for power, water and waste. Operated by husband-and-wife team Julian Allport (winemaker) and Fiona Weller, they are supported by co-owners, Tim and Sheena High. Moores Hill is in the Tamar Valley, just 35 minutes north of Launceston and boasts a magnificent winery and cellar door experience.
