Wines of Tasmania

One of Tasmania’s oldest family-run winery, Delamere rests on the Pipers River estate.

Our 12-hectare vineyard is planted exclusively to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on rich ironstone soils.

The deep red Ferrosol soils offer great fertility, good water drainage and moisture retention, alleviating the need for irrigation. The combination of soil and site are perfectly suited to these two noble cultivars.

Delamere has produced exceptional estate-grown wines since 1982 when the Richardson family established the vineyard on their organic market garden property. Close planted, on the side of a steep freezing cold hill, Delamere is a vineyard that demands to be managed 100% by hand.

Current custodians, husband-and-wife duo Fran Austin and Shane Holloway, since 2007 continue to evolve the production of world-class wines with care.Their combined experience of winemaking across the nation and globe in regions including Yarra Valley, USA’s Oregon & France’s Burgundy is reflected in the fine wine made from Delamere.
